Get Involved — Volunteer!

Our Shaker Community relies on volunteers for many school based events. ALL Shaker PTO volunteers need to complete the volunteer registration and have a background check, including fingerprinting. 

 

Who needs to be fingerprinted?

Classroom volunteers - YES

Field trip parent chaperones - YES

Volunteers at school-based PTO events - YES

Volunteers alone with students at anytime - YES

 

The processing of all volunteer fingerprints/background checks will take place in the Office of Family and Community Engagement located on the second floor of the Shaker Heights Public Library Main Branch, 16500 Van Aken Blvd., Shaker Heights 44120. You can schedule the appointment online in conjunction with completing the volunteer registration form. Or, you can email volunteer_face@shaker.org or call 216-295-6268 to schedule an appointment.

 

The Office of Family and Community Engagement can also tell you if you are already registered or if you need to update your status. Background checks must be completed every three years.
