Equity Unscripted Podcast: How does MLK’s legacy impact Shaker Heights Schools?

On this week’s episode, DEI Coordinator Tiara Sargeant is joined by Shaker Heights alumni Stephanie Shealy and Ifeolu A.C. Claytor to discuss the legacy of Dr. King, what a Beloved Community means to them and to Shaker Heights, how their experience at Shaker Heights Schools has impacted their lives since graduation and what they think about educational equity. Public Forum: DEI Efforts in Shaker Heights

Co hosted by the League of Women Voters and the PTO, this community forum will include information and then a discussion on how our City is working on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Panelists include Kim Harris, community activist, Shaker African American Moms; Colleen Jackson, chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer, City of Shaker Heights; Judge Anne Walton Keller, Shaker Heights Municipal Court; Sean Malone, Shaker Heights City Council; moderator Angel Michelle Chapman, executive director, NewONEShaker.

How can we make our community more equitable, efficient, and accessible to all? Should our elementary schools and recreation facilities be more centralized or decentralized? An Intentional Meeting (AIM)

In partnership with SHS CommUnity Builders, SAMS is launching a new endeavor open to everyone! AIM facilitates events on various days and at various locations. Its intent is for Shakerites to expand their social circles so look over the options HERE and sign up for an activity with someone you have yet to meet. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to get to know someone new in our community!
