Members of the Shaker Heights community are invited to engage in one or more of the following opportunities in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:

 

Dec 1 - Dec 22, 2022

Writing contest for 3rd - 8th grade students

Creating a beloved community starts with you! Write a poem or short essay telling us what you could do to help make Dr. King's dream of a Beloved Community come true.

 

Thursday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Watch Civil Rights leader, Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, Jr. reflect on his friend, Martin Luther King, Jr., and the movement's enormous impact decades later.

 

Sunday, January 15 from 3-5 p.m.

Participate in a facilitated dialogue on our theme: “Dr. King’s Beloved Community: Opportunities and Challenges for Shaker Heights Moving Forward Together” at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Center. While not required, advanced registration is appreciated.

Monday, January 16 from 12-2 p.m.

Support local nonprofit organizations in a drive-through donation drive at the Shaker Heights Middle School. More details about items in need can be found here.
